All School Retreat Skit “Everything”

Foster Hall, Christina Chan-Pong, Taylor Lee, Michael Kutner, Kelsey Martinez, Sierra Farrands, Tom Guarnery & Caitlyn Parker gave a wonderful performance of a skit called “Everything” during the All School Retreat on September 3.

The skit was originally performed by a group called “Lifehouse”. A teenage girl (Kelsey Martinez) is in love with Jesus (Foster Hall) and her Christian faith. She becomes challenged by “worldly evils” such as drugs, materialism, money, sex. The devil (Tom Guarnery) entices her to these things and ultimately convinces her that she should take her own life. After contemplating suicide, she remembers the peace and unconditional love she experienced in her relationship with Jesus. She struggles to overcome the obstacles and returns to Jesus who is her “Everything”. The moral of the story: All we need in our life is Jesus. Nothing can fill us completely except for our relationship with Him.

Host Families Needed for International Students

Attention Parents and Families,

We are indeed blessed here at Santa Fe to have the International Students with us. International Students increase our students’ awareness of the broader world; they make our students knowledgeable and more accepting of other cultures and stretch our minds and hearts. I know you have heard this plea before but I am making it again. We are in need of host homes specifically for boys at this time. We may have the need for girls again in a few weeks.

Most of the international students who come to us are repeating their last grade in school. They do this so they can perfect their English without dramatically impacting their grades. Also considering immigration and Visas they cannot always get here until they get all the appropriate clearances.

The students by their very presence help our budget tremendously. They pay cost of education which is far more than any of our local students pay. We as a school community benefit by having them in our school in a myriad of ways. Perhaps when you have seen us advertise this need before you thought about it but moved on…or maybe you thought it would be too much trouble. As someone who has hosted a student for the last month I can tell you it has been a true gift to me. Please help us and enrich your family at the same time with a world of new experiences.

To host a child all you need is:

A welcoming attitude

An extra bedroom A willingness to know more about other cultures

An ability to bring the student to and from school and activities (carpooling is Okay)

In these hard economic times you may be concerned about the financial impact on your budget. We provide a $500 per month stipend to the family for hosting. This is meant to cover the student’s expenses, extra food etc.

If you are interested or can assist the school community in this way please call me (Gwen Cote) for more information.

Annual All School Retreat

The annual All School Retreat will be held on Friday, September 3rd. This year’s presenter is Dan DeMatte from Columbus OH. “He is a motivational speaker who has realized that there is truly no dream worth living for other than the dream of heaven. He preaches the GOOD News, not the mediocre news, or the ‘I-hope-this-isn’t-too-big-of-an-inconvenience news’ news. Dan knows the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only message worth living for and worth dying for! Dan witnessed to his radical lifestyle when he starred on A&E’s hit reality TV show, God or the Girl. The show captured Dan’s intense discernment process between the priesthood and married life, along with three other men. In his discernment, Dan carried an 80lb cross on a 22 mile pilgrimage in order to better unite himself to the cross of Christ – the center of all vocations and the core of the Christian life. After discerning his call for three years, he heard the Lord calling him to the married life – God through the Girl as he puts it. Dan is happily married to Amber Marie. They have recently brought their first beautiful baby into the world. Sophia Therese.” (From CMG booking website) Dan’s topic is “Revolution to Holiness”. This is more than a talk..it is a movement. Dan will challenge the retreat participants to seek holiness and mission so to serve God’s reign on earth. The retreat participants will be inspired and motivated to continue to serve their local church. The presentations include multimedia, and creative ideas. The day will consist of prayer, presentations, discussion and lunch.
