Dear Parents,
Several months ago, Ms. Cote and other members of the Administration,
along with some members of the school board went to a talk by a former
DEA agent about alcohol and drug use among teens, and some trends here in
Polk County.
One of the statements that struck me was that teens perceive that parents
think it’s okay to drink, as long as they don’t drink and drive. After hearing
that talk, it reminded me that several years ago, parents at Santa Fe Catholic
had been asked to sign a Parent Pledge in regards to keeping our homes safe.
The Student Life Committee of the Santa Fe Catholic School Board has once
again revived this Parent Pledge. Enclosed you will find a copy of the
pledge. Please read it over, and if you choose to sign it, please return it
to the School Office by October 10. Much more information on the Safe
Homes Pledge can be found on Santa Fe’s website at
www.santafecatholic.org. On the home page, click on “forms”, and the
entire document can be found. It can also be found on the Campus Ministry
page.
In November, a list of Safe Homes families will be published in the Crimson
Courier. This means that these are families who signed the pledge and who
would welcome phone calls about gatherings for teens being held in their
homes.
Thank you for your consideration in this important matter.
Santa Fe Catholic School Board Member 2002-2008
